All of our operational K-9s are certified by the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (www.NNDDA.com) for cadaver detection and/or the National Police Work Dog Association (www.NAPWDA.com) for live find. The NNDDA is a National law enforcement organization dedicated to the utilization and proficiency of scent detector dogs for the benefit of Law Enforcement. Reasons to use law enforcement nationally certified K-9s for criminal investigations:
- An objective third party to evaluate the K-9’s capabilities and temperament with no agenda.
- No personal/monetary interest in the K-9 passing.
- Most civilians do not have the expertise to certify K-9s & testify to their capabilities in court, the NNDDA law enforcement certifying officials do.
- A set of standards from a national organization whose credibility has been established in court.
- Certifying officials chosen by a set of standards.
- Certifying officials with resumes the courts will accept and designate them as expert witnesses.
It has been established for a long time in the law enforcement world that everyone must be certified, including narcotic, bomb and cadaver dogs and handlers. The NNDDA, NAPWDA, LETS and IPWDA are the national law enforcement organizations that certify civilian K-9s which ensures that your agency is utilizing competent resources and resources that can stand up to the scrutiny of the law in court.
